Located in a valley surrounded by forests of rare beauty and crossed by the river Scoltenna, Pievepelago is among the main tourist centers of the Apennines of Modena. The town, seat of the Regional Park of Frignano, includes the territories that from the Upper Frignano area arrive to the border with Tuscany, whose watershed is marked by the Apennine ridge. Are also part of the municipality of Pievepelago the localities of Roccapelago hosting the eponymous castle now home to art exhibitions and museums, Sant'Andrea Pelago where there is the Torrione only remnant of the ancient fortress, Sant'Anna Pelago where most of the summer and winter tourist flow concentrates and Tagliole with the seventeenth-century church dedicated to St. John and St. Ignatius whose bell tower dominates the landscape.
